P+S shipyards received a further major contract for two special offshore vessels

P+S, the Stralsund-based shipyard, received a further million dollar contract for the construction of two installation vessels. By signing this contract P+S becomes one of the leading international companies in the field of specialized shipbuilding for the offshore wind industry. Already in January this year the group was contracted to construct one of the world’s largest crane ships.

As P+S-shipyards announced this Tuesday these special ships which will be 172 metres long and will be equipped with cranes, a docking feature for floating cargo and a stern ramp. They will be constructed for the Singapur-based Offshore Installation Group (OIG), a company founded by the Bremer Reederei Harren & Partner. According to the P+S group the order volume will be in the three-digit million Euros range. In addition to the current placing of the order for the two ships OIG hold out the prospect of the production of two further special ships on the P+S shipyards that are identical in construction.

Currently P+S-shipyards have got orders for the construction of 22 special ships in their order books, of which four ships will be built for the Swedish coastguard and other five ice-strengthened special cargo vessels for Greenland. With these new orders the shipyards / P+S group will be busy till midth of 2013.
